Chanel Haute-Couture 12-13 show
Karl Lagerfeld doesn't like vintage, so he invented "new vintage" which is his way of honoring timeless couture for women who love Chanel tailoring, gentle colors and tour de force elegance. Lagerfeld displayed all this gentility in the Salon d'Honneur of Paris's Grand Palais, a space that hasn't been used in 70 years, set to duplicate Chanel's original couture salon and underscore the rare feeling of the house's couture this season. Soft shapes and daywear dominated, from easy-tailored tweed suits to the mock tweeds, rich, intricate renderings of tweed in embroidery, appliqué and massive amounts of sequins which require thousands of hours of handwork and highlight the amazing scope of the Chanel atelier
