Philip Lim Fall 2013 RTW

Review by Herman Bishop

Last night, 3.1 Phillip Lim posted a picture on Instagram that teased a tiny peak at today’s show. The snap was of a dozen-plus patches, semi-letterman-looking, but maybe more Harley Davidson–like. You better believe it was the first thing this writer asked Phillip Lim about backstage. “The collection is loosely inspired by cafĂ© racer culture, riffing off of motorcycle style,” the designer explained, pointing to a denim jumpsuit sewn all over with those same colorful, custom-made patches, and more––bird face crests, the letters P and L, and graphic chevron-feather motifs. “The character is on a journey, collecting things.” And, it maybe goes without saying, she’s expressing herself through her style. Sono Mama is the name of the collection. It’s a phrase that means “as you are” in Japanese, a state of being that Lim is celebrating this season, specifically, by dressing his girls in an eclectic mix of neo-Bohemian clothes, complete with the many patches of their well-traveled pasts. Outerwear, you bet, is going to be very important for our road-tripping heroine, and there was lots of it. Technical fabrics, like brushed felt bonded to neoprene, gave some coats’ voluminous shapes structure without a lot of weight. Unlined biker jackets were strictly cut with sharp lines and firm hand feels. One parka––a shaggy mix of rabbit, goat, and sheep fur––was what Lim called “the mutt of the pack.” (There has to be one, right?) Direct references were many: the stripy jacquard was a riff on the Turkish kilims that riders strap on the back of their bikes, for example; the stamped neoprene coats were a nod to classic Italian shells; and the bag, new this season, was a tourist satchel that straps on like a guitar and is called the Ryder. The finishing touch: swinging gypsy-chandelier earrings designed exclusively for the collection by Alexis Bittar. Free and easy does it.

In Tirana

It's 7:30 of the morning and were giving the last touch to the debate preparing which is at 9
Were exhausted because we've been studying until 2:30 am and woke up at 7.
But we had fun, we went outside on Sheshi Skenderbej and saw the parade of the soldiers (general tryouts). To tell you the truth Tirana was like in a war because there were soldiers everywere, in every corner, in every bar. I'm enjoying the view from My room at Tirana International and I have to admit , Tirana is beautiful in sunny mornings!

Have a nice day!

Maison Martin Mangiela for H&M

THE Maison Martin Margiela with H&M lookbook images have finally arrived and we have them here to show you.

Peppered with the deconstructed shapes and exaggerated proportions that the French fashion house is known for, the range is bound to please fans of the label. Ladies can expect oversized masculine jackets, loose-fitting trousers, outerwear folded origami-style and dresses that drape loosely across the body. The menswear is equally as covetable, with sharply-cut tailoring and coats - one that comes in white and features shearling detailing and another in two-tone grey and brown check.

The debate

Being close to the 100 anniversay of our independency means 28 Nentori High school is in total chaos because of the activity held on Monday, the 26th pf November. But on the other side there is a national debate in Tirana on the same day for the european integration of our country where few students part of the activity were supposed to take part. And i guess it's my luck the fact that they couldn't make it ! The responsive teacher told me and my friend Seli about it and we accepted. I think it's a great privilege to represent my city, we even get to sleep in Tirana for a night but we don't know what were doing yet! That was the fun part but the lame side is that I have to catch up with the program of 6 months in only one day so I better get to studying. Thanks for following!
Love always , Riva

Chiara Ferragni- The Blonde Salad

I believe that dreams do come true but they need hard work and passion beside wish. And that's what Chiara Ferragni's blog, The blonde salad is all about. This site was my first inspiration for the opening of my blog and probably not only for me. Her style is always fresh and full of eye catching details which make her looks sophisticated in the same time as effortless.  "The blonde salad" shows that style can't be taught, style is about being you, expressing yourself and that's what everyone wants to listen. She has been my style icon for 2 years now and I follow each post of hers where she seems so down to earth and so optimistic, living life every moment. But I guess no one should think that success comes with no work. She is one of the most  famous fashion bloggers in the world, confident, stylish, daring, she is Chiara Ferragni of "The Blonde Salad".
